STRIKE: Taxis, Autos and Mini Buses will not run on the Roads of Delhi today
Inflation has increased tremendously in the country these days. From diesel-petrol to CNG, the prices have reached the sky. At the same time, due to inflation, various organizations of auto, taxi and minibus drivers in Delhi have decided to go on strike today i.e. on Monday. Commuters may have to face a lot of trouble due to the drivers' strike.
Stirke has been kept one day for the time being
It is worth noting that the strike of auto, taxi and minibus drivers in Delhi has been kept one day for the time being. However, the Sarvodaya Driver Association of Delhi says that they are going on an 'indefinite' strike from Monday. But, nothing has been said by other organizations yet. But if the strike is prolonged, the movement in Delhi will come to a standstill.
All the driver organizations are angry due to rising inflation. Drivers say that they are also facing trouble in driving home. In such a situation, the striking driver organizations are demanding an increase in fare rates and a reduction in CNG prices.
Committee to consider the fare revision in a time-bound manner
Here, it has been announced by the Delhi government to form a committee to consider the fare revision in a time-bound manner. Even after this, the driver organizations have declared a strike. However, regarding the strike, Kamaljeet Gill, president of Sarvodaya Driver Association Delhi, said that due to the lack of any steps from the government to help us by reducing fuel prices and revising the fares, we have started an indefinite strike from today i.e. Monday.
We cannot run our loss-making autos and cabs every day- Rajendra Soni
On the other hand, Delhi Auto Rickshaw Association general secretary Rajendra Soni said, "We know that the Delhi government is forming a committee but we demand that the government (Centre and Delhi) should provide a subsidy of Rs 35 per kg on CNG prices.
Soni said we cannot run our loss-making autos and cabs every day because CNG prices are on a gallop. This is a symbolic protest against the price hike. The city has over 80,000 registered taxis and over 90,000 autos to complement the public transport system. Shyam Lal Gola, general secretary of STA Operators Ekta Manch, said that around 10,000 RTV buses will also remain closed in support of the demand for revision of fares and reduction in prices of CNG.
