Delhi: BJP Names Rekha Gupta as its Mayor Candidate

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced the candidates for the Delhi Mayor election. BJP has nominated Rekha Gupta as its Delhi Mayor candidate and Kamal Bagdi for the post of Deputy Mayor.

Rekha Gupta will face Aam Aadmi Party's, Shelly Oberoi. While there is a contest with Mohammad Iqbal for the post of deputy mayor.

Today is the last day to file nominations

At the same time, BJP has chosen Kamaljeet Sehrawat, Gajendra Daral and Pankaj Luthra for the Standing Committee.

While the Aam Aadmi Party has nominated Amil Malik, Raminder Kaur, and Mohini Jeenwal as the standing committee members. Today i.e Dec 27 is the last day to file nominations for the post of mayor.

Who is Rekha Gupta?

Rekha Gupta is a councillor from Shalimar Bagh. She has become a counsellor for the third time from here. She has also held many important responsibilities in MCD before.

At the same time, Kamaljeet has previously been the mayor of the South Delhi Municipal Corporation. Gajendra Daral contested as an independent candidate of BJP.

Election for the post of Mayor on 6 January

Voting for the post of Mayor of MCD will be held on January 6. On this day the election of 6 members of the Standing Committee of the House is to be held.

Out of 250 MCD seats, AAP crossed the majority mark by winning 134 seats, while BJP could win only 104 seats.

Now everyone's eyes are on the election of the mayor to be held on January 6.
