In preparation for the scheduled visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to Guwahati, authorities have implemented prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) in the city.

Police Commissioner Diganta Barah issued a notification expressing concerns about potential disruptions to the smooth functioning of offices, public movement, and traffic in the upcoming days.

The imposed measures aim to maintain law and order during the visit and ensure the safety of the public and the successful execution of the Home Minister's itinerary.

Proactive Steps Taken to Maintain Peace and Order in Guwahati

Anticipating potential agitation or demonstrations by certain groups or individuals, which could lead to a "breach of peace and public order," authorities have highlighted the importance of taking preventive measures.

The objective is to ensure the smooth and peaceful movement of the public, maintain regular traffic flow, enable local residents to continue their daily activities without disruption and ensure the uninterrupted functioning of offices in the specified area.

This precautionary order emphasizes the need to proactively address any potential disturbances to maintain overall public safety and facilitate normalcy in the designated area.

With immediate effect until further notice, the assembly of more than five persons and the organization of processions or activities involving slogan shouting have been strictly prohibited within the entire jurisdiction of the police commissionerate.

Cabinet Meeting Chaired by CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Ahead of Amit Shah's Visit

In anticipation of the upcoming visit of Home Minister Amit Shah, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma presided over a cabinet meeting to discuss the preparations.

The meeting aimed to ensure proper arrangements and coordination for Shah's two-day visit, during which he is expected to arrive in Guwahati on Wednesday night.

The Chief Minister's Office tweeted that the laying of the foundation stone for the National Forensic Science University and the distribution of appointment letters would take place during the honourable Home Minister's visit.

This indicates the significance of the visit and the important initiatives that will be undertaken during the scheduled itinerary.
