Deepak Sharma

Women's IPL 2023: Women's Cricket is as essential as Men's Cricket. Women cricketers have done well to earn full rights to participate in an event like the Women's IPL. Since 2018, the Women's IPL has been played, and each season of this event has been a success.

Women's IPL 2023: Event will be a 15-day affair

The Women's IPL is also known as Women T20 Challenge. The tournament was played before, but it was not a full-fleshed one, just like the Men's play in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

This time the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has planned a big event, and they have also shortlisted 200 female players for the auction.

After many delays, the Women’s IPL 2023 will finally be played. This time, the event will be a 15-day affair, starting on 7th March and ending on 22nd March 2023.

Overseas players will also participate in the Women’s Indian Premiere League. The main idea of the Women’s IPL is that more girls would make a career in sports.

Several men's cricketers, former Women's cricketer Mithali Raj, current Indian Women’s skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and the vice-captain of the Women’s Indian Team, Smriti Mandhana, have appreciated this move of BCCI.

The Indian skipper Kaur said that this tournament would help the domestic Women players to play against the best players, which will help them to do well for the country.

Base price of Women’s IPL 2023 is 400 crores

The WIPL (Women’s IPL 2023) will gather the eyeballs after the Indian Board, BCCI has set the base price of this event to 400 crores. 160 players from India and 40 from overseas nations will be in this full-fleshed tournament.

The Board has given the deadline of 3rd December 2022 to submit the complete list of 200 players who will participate in the Women's IPL 2023.

Then the IPL governing council will decide on the following process for WIPL 2023 draft. The Indian Board will also have to look into the media rights because the auctions for this event will be under the media rights tender. For this event, the Indian Board and the selectors will rope in the superwomen stars.

Overall, 22 matches will be played in this Women's IPL 2023, and the men's IPL franchises are also interested in acquiring the rights. But the BCCI still has to decide the distribution of these rights.

The WIPL 2023 will have league and playoff matches. The top two teams will qualify for the final. The 3rd and 4th teams will play in the elimination round. The team owners will be decided by December.
