West Indies Beat Pakistan in First Match to Take 1-0 Lead in Test Series

West Indies have started the new cycle of the ICC World Test Championship with a win in the first match of the two-match Test series against Pakistan. At the same time, Pakistan's team had to face defeat in the new cycle of WTC. Actually, the first match of the two-match Test series was played in Jamaica, in which the Pakistan team scored 217 runs in the first innings while batting first. In response, the West Indies team scored 253 runs in their first innings to take a 36-run lead against Pakistan, which proved to be a win-win deal for the Caribbean team. In the second innings, Pakistan's team bundled out for 203 runs.

The Caribbean team needed 168 runs for the victory. West Indies did not get off to a good start in their second innings, but small partnerships between the middle-order batsmen took the team to the threshold of victory. At one point it looked like Pakistan would win this match by a margin of few runs, as the team needed a wicket and West Indies had to score 17 runs after the 9th wicket fell.

West Indies innings:

For West Indies, Kemar Roach shared a 17-run partnership with Jayden Seals for the last wicket and led the team to victory. Although, Seals scored only two runs, he did not give his wicket to Pakistan's experience bowlers like Hasan Ali, Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Abbas. Kemar Roach went on scoring runs from the other end and played an important role in helping the team victory by 1 wicket. The 'Player of the Match' was Jayden Seals, who sent 3 batsmen back to pavilion in the first innings and five Pakistan batsmen in the second innings.
