Ravi Shastri believes that Kohli can step down from captaincy from other formats after T20 Internationals to deal with the pressure related to Covid-19. When asked about Kohli's captaincy in a conversation, Shastri said that he can drop the leadership responsibility from other formats for better management of the workload. He said that under his captaincy in Test cricket, India has been at the top for the last five years.

Kohli is the fittest player

Terming Virat Kohli as the fittest cricketer, Ravi Shastri said, 'Many successful players have given up captaincy to focus on their batting.' He said, 'He definitely has the hunger to do well in the game, He is fitter than anyone in the team. No doubt about that. In terms of captaincy, it will be his decision, but I see that he can say no to white-ball cricket but in red-ball cricket, he should continue playing. Because he has been the best messenger of Test cricket.

Kohli wants to focus more on his batting

The former coach also said that Kohli wants to focus more on his batting. Kohli wants to free himself from the extra burden of responsibilities. Because BCCI is in favour of keeping only one captain in limited-overs. It is also believed that instead of Virat Kohli, the command of ODI should be handed over to Rohit Sharma. It is known that Kohli took charge of the Test team in 2015 and the ODI-T20 team in 2017. However, Kohli failed to win any title in four consecutive ICC tournaments under his captaincy.
