Sourav Ganguly, former Team India opener, captain and currently BCCI President, is celebrating his 48th birthday today. This classic batsman is also known as 'Dada'. Dada means elder brother. Ganguly has contributed a lot as a captain of Team India and later when he won the NatWest Trophy against England. Then England captain Nasir Hussain had said- I came to know today what Dada means. Ganguly made his Test debut at Lords Cricket Stadium. His innings of 131 runs is the highest score by any batsman while debuting on this ground.
Let us tell you that Sourav has a plush restaurant in Park Street, Kolkata. Its name is 'Maharaja Sauravs – The Food Pavilion'. It was inaugurated in 2004 by Sachin Tendulkar. According to Ganguly, he started this restaurant at the behest of Sachin.
Sourav's family is financially strong from the beginning. His parents named Sourav as 'Maharaj'. Former England captain and famous commentator Geoffrey Boycott named Sourav as 'Prince of Kolkata'.
Interestingly, Ganguly is a right-hander by birth, while his brother Snehasish was a left-hander. Dada also became a left-hander to use his cricket gear (gloves and pads etc.). What happened later?
