Second Edition of Lanka Premier League to Begin from July 30 to August 22

The 14th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was started amidst the second wave of coronavirus in India last month. After 29 matches, BCCI decided to postpone it indefinitely due to players being found infected in the team bubble. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on Wednesday announced that the second edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) will take place from July 30 to August 22.

According to an official statement issued on behalf of Sri Lanka Cricket, "We have found a suitable window to hold this year's edition, whilst we are currently working on finalizing the other details of the tournament." The announcement of the second edition of the tournament was made on the official Twitter handle of Sri Lanka Cricket.

Jaffna Stallions won the 2020 edition of LPL:

Last year, the first edition of this tournament successfully organized. Five teams took part in Sri Lanka's biggest T20 league. The first season took place in a safe bio bubble environment. The first edition of the Lanka Premier League took place between 26 November and 16 last year. However, many big players such as Chris Gayle, Lasith Malinga, Faf du Plessis. David Miller, Mohammad Hafeez, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Wahab Riaz and Liam Plunkett pulled out of the 2020 edition. The Jaffna Stallions won the trophy by defeating Galle Gladiators by 53 runs in the final.

Five teams, which took part in the T20 league are – Colombo Kings, Dambulla Viiking, Jaffna Stallions, Galle Gladiators and Kandy Tuskers. Meanwhile, legendary all-rounder Shoaib Malik named the Man of the Final for his all-round brilliance. – 46 runs and figures of 2/13.
