Saina Nehwal Ruled out of the Korea Masters Badminton Championship due to her continuous poor performance. Kidambi Srikanth, who returned to form, will go on to win the first title of the season. World No. 13 Srikanth has not fared well since making it to the finals of the India Open this year. Srikanth will start his campaign against Hong Kong's Vincent Wong Wing. Out of 13 matches against Vincent, Srikanth has won ten, while three have lost. Vincent is returning after his father's demise in August.

London Olympics bronze medalist Saina, who won just one title this season, is expected to play in the Syed Modi International World Tour Super 300 tournament in Lucknow next week. After Saina's exit, there will be no representation of India in the women's singles.

World number 16 Sameer Verma will have to overcome Xi Yuki of China in the first round, while his elder brother Saurabh Verma will have to overcome the qualifiers.  Shubhankar Dey, who won the SaarLorLux Open last year, will debut in the first round against Olympic champion and second seed Chen Long of China. Shubhankar lost the match against long in Swiss Open. It was the only match between the two so far. No Indian player is participating in the doubles.
