Rohit Sharma may Break Sanath Jayasuriya’s 22-Year-Old Record in Third ODI

Indian opener Rohit Sharma, who scored a century in the second ODI against the West Indies, can break a big record in the third ODI. In Visakhapatnam, Rohit had broken several records, scoring 159 runs. In the last match of the series, Rohit has a chance to break the 22-year-old record of former Sri Lankan batsman Sanath Jayasuriya.

The teams of India and West Indies will face off in the last match of the three-match ODI series in Cuttack. This match is important for both teams. Both teams are on par this time by winning 1–1 matches in the series. The team that wins the last match will be named after the series. Rohit, who played brilliantly in the second match, will also expect to repeat his form in this match. After scoring just 9 runs in last ODI match, Rohit will break the 22-year-old record of former Sri Lankan opener Sanath Jayasuriya.

In 2019, Rohit has scored 2479 runs so far and is just 9 runs away from breaking Jayasuriya's 22 year old record.

Rohit can overtake the former Sri Lankan opener in terms of scoring the most runs in a year. Rohit has 2379 runs while in 1997 Jayasuriya scored 2387 runs in a year. With 8 runs, the Indian opener will be equal to Jayasuriya and after scoring the 9th run, he will break the record of Sanath Jayasuriya. This year, Rohit has scored 1427 runs in ODIs, 396 in T20 and 556 in Tests.
