NZ Vs ENG 2nd Test Match Preview

The Kiwis should aim to make a comeback in the last Test match of this two-match series of the red ball format. New Zealand lost the first Test by 267 runs and also trails 1-0 down in this series.

England won the first Test match by 267 runs

The current holders of the World Test Championship trophy didn’t give a convincing performance with the bat and ball.

Tim Southee, the new leader of the Black Caps side should do something special to guide his team through to a series-levelling victory in the last Test match at Wellington.

The former skipper of The Kiwis, Kane Williamson holds the key as a senior batter in the side. He failed to do well in the first Test match.

Kane scored a golden duck in the second innings and bagged just six runs in the 1st innings.

Now in the crisis situation, the home side will want their senior pro to step up in this final match of this series.

Tom Blundell scored a magnificent 138 runs in the first innings, which allowed The Black Caps side to reach the 300-run mark.

If Blundell had some support, then the hosts would have certainly scored much more than England’s first-innings total.

NZ needs players like Latham, Mitchell, Nicholls and Conway to fire in this must-win encounter.

Even the New Zealand bowlers weren’t up to the mark. Tim Soutee needs to lead his side from the front as he is their main bowler.

Neil Wagner bowled well in that match and looked impressive in the home conditions. But the likes of Bracewell, Tickner and skipper Southee should also step up in this do-or-die match.

All is well in Wellington for England. But they will want their openers to do a much better job in the second and last Test match of this red ball series.

Harry Brook was the stand-out batter for them in both innings and he also earned a player of the match award in the last game. Stokes and co will also need runs from the middle order.

In the first test match, the middle order of England had failed to deliver. Root scored 57 runs in the second innings of the first test match.

The experienced star batter from England will look to score a hundred in the last match. He will be the player to watch out for as well. Ben Stokes too needs runs under his belt as the leader of this Test side.

Stokesy will eye for another away series win after his heroics in Pakistan a few months ago. The bowling too has been wonderful from the visiting team.

Stokesy will eye for series win

Anderson, Broad, Robinson and Leach were excellent and England will hope that they would continue their form in the last Test as well. Stokes and co. look for favourites to win the series in New Zealand.

NZ Vs ENG 2nd Test Match Preview: Pitch Report

The conditions in Basin Reserve at Wellington will be windy and the seam bowlers can make the most of it.

The pitch will support the bowlers the most and the batters will find it hard to deal with the pacer bowlers. The team who wins the toss should bowl first at that venue.
