Dhoni turns the table suddenly when he was in the way of captaincy he decided himself to promote at no. 5 ahead of Yuvraj Singh and went on to play.

Dhoni, along with Gambhir took the attack to the opposition and put on a solid 109-run stand for the fourth wicket. The former skipper added another 54 runs with Yuvraj for the fifth Wicket and ensures India took the trophy home.

Seven years after the famous night at the stadium, Dhoni opened up on his decision to promote himself.

He recently quoted by saying, "I knew most of the bowlers of Sri Lanka as they were the part of Chennai Super King earlier. I promote myself because Muralitharan was bowling at that time and I have played with him a lot in CSK and I was very confident at that time that I will be able to score runs freely against him. That was one of the main reason why I pushed myself up in the order during the final".
