Mithali Raj Announces Her Retirement From T20 Cricket today

New Delhi: Former Indian women's team captain Mithali Raj has announced her retirement from T20 cricket. Now Mithali will focus on ODI World Cup. Mithali Raj leads the Indian women's team in 32 T20 Internationals. It also includes three Women's T20 World Cups.

Right-handed batsman Mithali Raj captained the Indian team in 2012 (Sri Lanka), in 2014 (Bangladesh) and in the T20 World Cup in 2016 (India). However, under the captaincy of Mithali Raj, the Indian team never became a world champion in T20 International cricket.

India's first female T20 captain, who captained the Indian team to T20 International cricket for the first time against England in the derby back in 2006. Apart from this, she became the first player to score 2000 runs in T20 International cricket for India.

Mithali Raj had completed 2000 runs in T20 International cricket before Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Mithali Raj has represented 88 T20 matches for India. In these matches, Mithali's bat has yielded 2364 runs with 17 half-centuries, which is the highest run by India in T20 cricket.

After saying goodbye to T20 International cricket, Mithali Raj has said, "After representing the Indian team since 2006, I want to say goodbye to this format. I am currently focusing on the 2021 ODI World Cup. "

"It is my dream to win the World Cup for my country and I want to give my best in it. I would like to thank the BCCI for their continued support and best wishes to the Indian T20 team for the home T20 series against South Africa".
