CWG 2022: The entire nation stood up on its feet after the National Anthem of India reverberated around the center with the Tricolor going to the top following a historic feat by lucky girl Mirabai Chanu snatched the first gold for India this Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

Mira was the one who pulled all limitations and grabbed the silver in the Tokyo Olympics in the 49 kg category last year which was the first for India in those games, and what happened after that was history.

In a span of one year, Imphal girl changed the color of the medal from silver to gold in a record-shattering show at the National Exhibition Centre in Solihull.

Prior to the games, it was pre-assumed who was going to take away the gold medal. Chanu was by far ahead of any competitor she was going to face. She was ahead with a whopping number of 25 kg from the second-best rival.

Mirabai was on her personal best in the process of securing the top medal with a lift of a total of 201 kg which included 88 kg in snatch and 113 kg in clean and jerk. She was all smiles during the lifting process as she knew that the competition for her was from herself.

Initially, in the three lifts of a snatch, she attempted 84kg which was pulled off easily by her. In the second attempt, she rose to 88 kg to set a record by her in CWG and overall, too.

She then went to crack 90kg but could not complete it off. Chanu had said that the 90 kg mark is her target in CWG this year.

In the clean and jerk, she initiated the first two attempts and lifted 109 kg and 113 kg respectively. The third time, she attempted 115 kg but there too could not complete that target.

Her personal best score in clean and jerk is 119 kg and she eventually wanted to cross the 120 kg mark, but it was not written in her fate.

However, Mirabai Chanu had made all of the Indians proud with her feat and her determination.
