Kings XI Punjab Buys CPL Franchise St Lucia Zouks

King XI Punjab, a franchise of the IPL has bought a team of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) St Lucia Zouks, a team from the West Indies T20 League CPL. Punjab team has become the second franchise of IPL to buy the team in CPL. The captain of the St Lucia Zouks team is Darren Sammy. The owners of Kings XI Punjab have invested their money by buying the team in the Caribbean Premier League. Earlier, Trinidad and Tobago's team was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) franchise owned by Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan in the year 2015. The CPL team of the KKR franchise is now named as Trinbago Knight Riders.

Mohit Burman, co-owner of the Kings XI Punjab team said in a statement issued by the press release of St. Lucia Jukes, "We are very excited to invest in the world's most exciting sporting tournament, CPL. We are very much inspired by the liveliness of CPL over the last seven years. " St. Lucia Zouks has reached the qualifier round of the CPL just once. On the other hand, Kings XI Punjab has also not won a single title of IPL.

On the other hand, Trinbago Knight Riders team owned by Kolkata Knight Riders is the most successful team of CPL, which has won 3 titles so far. Last season, the team was ranked No. 3, while St. Lucia's team finished fifth. The eighth season of the Caribbean Premier League i.e. CPL starts on 19 August 2020 which will run till 26 September.
