Khelo India Youth Games 2022: 9 Daughters of Farm Labourers in Kabaddi Squad

Khelo India Youth Games 2022: An inspiring story from the southeast state of India where daughters belonging from the agricultural background made it into the Kabaddi team that will represent the Andhra Pradesh state in the Khelo India Youth Games 2022, Haryana.

Nearly 10 out of the 12 girls that made it into the squad belong to a family which works as labour farmers to earn their livelihood and are now will be proud of the feat their daughters have achieved at this level.

When one of the girls, Vandana Suryakala were asked about their family profession, she replied, “So what, I am a daughter of farm labourer parents. I am proud of them.” “Each one has a profession and my parents are labourers by profession. And I am very proud of them.”

They also went on to win the game against Chhattisgarh by an impressive score line of 40-28 where Vandana scored spectacular 14 points among it.

Another member from the same background, Munakala Devika also responded in that way, “We are proud of our parents and it is because of them that we are here. They have encouraged us to play the game, giving us all the support that we need.”

Stage to showcase the talent

Khelo India youth games is proving to be the turning point in the lives of the many families and youth who aren’t able to meet the basic needs of the life by providing them with a platform to showcase their talent to the national level and to be a future sporting icon of the country.

Around 4,700 students will participate in the games among which around 2,262 are girls.
