The Indian Premier League completes 13 years. Lasith Malinga, the highest wicket-taker in the tournament, has been adjudged the best bowler by many veterans. Malinga, who played for Mumbai Indians, has been selected as the all-time greatest bowler of the tournament. The Mumbai team has won the IPL title four times so far.

Malinga, who specializes in yorkers, has so far taken 170 wickets in 122 IPL matches. Even after struggling with the fitness problem, no bowler could overtake Malinga in the matter of taking wickets. Malinga's bowling in the last 12 seasons has been a tough test for batsmen. Malinga was instrumental in Mumbai winning the IPL Trophy for the fourth time. In the 2019 tournament, Mumbai won by one run on the last ball.

Kevin Pietersen, who was in the jury selected for the IPL Greatest of All-time before the start of the 13th edition, explained why Malinga was voted the best bowler. Pieterson told all the things that led to the jury's decision.

He said, "I will choose Lasith Malinga. If you pay attention to the figures that he has served the team so far and the way he has used the yorker constantly because of this everybody talks about him. I could have gone with Naren as well but he has bowled well on the wickets where there is a turn. Also how many times his bowling action has been questioned now. That is why I would like to say that I just want to go with Malinga. "
