There were a lot of speculations going around after the Special General Meeting (SGM) regarding the dates of the remaining 31 IPL games. But now the Vice President of the Board Rajiv Shukla has put an end to all these speculations. He has confirmed the remainder of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be played from September 19 and October 15 in the UAE.
While talking to IANS on Wednesday, BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla said, "The IPL will be held from September 19 to October 15." However, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has not officially announced the dates for the T20 World Cup. The BCCI has time till June 28 to inform the ICC whether it is in a position to host tournament.
The IPL Franchisees are also confident that BCCI will engage in positive discussions with foreign boards and players will be available for the remaining matches. Let us tell you that IPL was organized in India in April-May amid the second wave of Coronavirus. However, it had to be postponed in early May after a spike in coronavirus cases inside IPL's bio-bubble.
On May 6, a BCCI official said, "The discussions have started and we are keeping fingers crossed that the foreign players will be mostly available. If a couple of them do not manage to turn up. We shall then decide on the future course of action. But keeping fingers crossed for now and hoping to have an action-packed end to the 14th edition in UAE."
