Akash Singh

Indian badminton team coach Pullela Gopichand hopes that Indian badminton players will perform their best at Tokyo Olympics 2020. However, he said this at a time when India's top badminton player such as PV Sindhu is not performing well. Gopichand said that we have done well in the last few Olympics. This time when we participate in the Olympics, then we will also have a world champion player in our team as PV Sindhu. We will go there with good preparation and this time we will return by performing more well than last time. Women's singles world champion Sindhu won the title in August last year by defeating Japan's Nozomi Okuhara. Gopichand has given two Olympic medalists to India under his supervision. Among them, Saina Nehwal won the bronze medal in the year 2012 and PV Sindhu won the silver medal in the year 2016.

Gopichand also praised the Khelo India Youth Games event and said that this will give a great opportunity to youngsters to come forward and show their talent. He said that all the competitions like the Khelo India Youth Games are a great opportunity for the Indian athlete. These are some of the events that I am very happy about. On the other hand, under the Khelo India program, giving all kind of help to the players, it proves that the future of the players here is good.
