IND Vs AUS 3rd Test Match Review: Steve Smith has won his second game in India as the Test skipper of the Aussies. Smith had also won the first Test match on the 2017 tour of India in Pune by 333 runs.

At that time Steve was the full-time captain of the Baggy Greenside. Now again he led his country to a famous win at Indore. The visitors won the 3rd Test match by nine wickets.

India gave a disappointing performance with the bat in both innings. The Australian spinners were too good in front of the experienced Indian batters.

The visitors bundled out the hosts for just 109 runs in the first innings and 163 runs in the second innings. That’s what laid the foundation for Australia to win this Test match. 

Now the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023 stands with a margin of 2-1 with one Test match still to be played in Ahmedabad from Thursday, 9th March 2023 to Monday, 13th March 2023.

After the win in Indore, the Aussies are favourites to draw the BGT 2023 series to two all. Australia had earned this win in the third match after two back-to-back losses under the leadership of Pat Cummins.

But before the final Test match of this red ball series starts in Shri Narendra Modi Stadium, in this segment, today, we shall take a look at the five best performers of the second Test match between IND Vs AUS at Holkar Stadium in Indore.

Only two Indian players have been included in this list because the Aussies dominated this whole Test match proceedings.

1. Nathan Lyon

Australia roared in this Test match through their lead spinner Nathan Lyon. The spin bowler was good at exploiting the spin-friendly conditions in Indore.

He picked up 11 wickets in the third test match. Nathan took three wickets in the first innings and ended the second innings with an eight-wicket haul.

Lyon was also awarded the player of the match for his outstanding performance.

2. Matthew Kuhnemann

Another spin bowler from the Aussie nation has been featured in this list. Kuhnemann made his debut in the second Test match at New Delhi and in the second match of his red ball career, Kuhnemann has a five-wicket haul to his name.

He was the one who started the flow of wickets in the 1st innings of India and that’s why the hosts were bundled out for just 109 runs.

3. Ravindra Jadeja

Both the spin-bowling all-rounders did not have an ideal Test match. Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin bowled decently. But they failed to contribute with the bat in both innings of the third Test match.

Jaddu picked up four wickets in the first innings and he is also the highest wicket-taker for India in the three red ball games played so far.

4. Chesteshwar Pujara

The number three batter of India did a good job in the second innings of the Indore Test match. He scored valuable 59 runs and allowed India to be in the contest.

If Pujara had been out early, then India might have lost this Test match by an innings margin. His knock was a perfect example on how to grind the innings on turning and bouncing pitches.

Pujara had no support in that knock. At least one batter needed to bat with him. Shreyas Iyer did a decent job. But he was also picked up early after playing some attacking strokes.

5. Usman Khawaja

The opener of the Aussie team had set the tone for this win. He played well for his 60 runs in the first innings. Khawaja also did well in the first innings of the Test match at New Delhi where he scored 81 runs.

Usman was good against the spin trio of the men in blue side. But in both innings, at New Delhi and Indore, Khawaja missed out on a century.

Australia will need him to fire in the final Test match as well because Usman Khawaja looks well set to play on the turning tracks of India.
