The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday announced the nominees for 'Player of the Month' Award for May month. The Award recognises the best performances from both male and female cricketers across all forms of international cricket.
In the list of men, Pakistan's Hassan Ali, Sri Lanka's Praveen Jayawickrama and Bangladesh's Mushfiqur Rahim nominated by the ICC for the month of May. Talking about women cricketers, Kathryn Bryce of Scotland, Gaby Lewis and Leah Paul of Ireland have been nominated for this award.
At the same time, Hassan Ali recently showed a brilliant bowling performance in Test series against Zimbabwe. He had taken 14 wickets at an average of 8.92. At the same time, Sri Lanka's Praveen bowled 11 wickets in the second Test against Bangladesh. On the basis of Praveen's brilliant bowling, Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh by 209 runs in the second Test. He was also selected 'Man of the Match'. Talking about Mushfiqur Rahim, he scored 237 runs in the ODI series against Sri Lanka.
Talking about Women cricketers, Kathryn scored 96 runs with a strike rate of 85.71 in T-20 and also took five wickets at an average of 14.60. Meanwhile, played four T20Is against Scotland where she scored 116 runs at 29.00 with a strike rate of 116.00. Significantly, the ICC has launched the ICC Player of the Month Award to recognize the best performances from both male and female cricketers across all forms of international cricket. ICC Award Nomination Committee will decide three nominations for every category. Meanwhile, the winner will be announced on the second Monday of the month.
