Former Indian Veteran Dilip Vengsarkar said that he is happy with his career. In the presence of Gavaskar and Vishwanath, Vengsarkar may not have got the same fame but there is no regret in it. Vengsarkar, who played for India for 16 years, said, "When I look back, it was a very good and satisfying journey. Playing 116 Tests for India is the greatest satisfaction and has also played 129 ODIs. With this the captaincy of India. It has been a great journey."

When Vengsarkar was asked that he did not get the credit he deserved, he said, "It is a matter of luck. You have to win matches for the team by playing hard and working honestly. This should be the goal of every cricketer. Whatever achievements or recognition you get in this way, whether you get credit or not, it is all a matter of luck."

The Indian team had created history by winning the test series in England. India won the first Test by 5 wickets while the second match was won by 279 runs. The third match ended in a tie and India won the series. Vengsarkar scored a century in both the matches. In the first match, he scored an unbeaten 126 in the first innings and 102 not out in the second innings of the second Test.

Vengsarkar advised young players who have made a place in the Indian cricket team to give importance to domestic cricket. He said that he used to play in Ranji Trophy and Dalip Trophy even after making his place in the team. Because of this, he got a chance to continuously improve his batting.
