Virat Kohli has also resigned as Test captain after the ODI and T20 series. He will now be seen as a batsman in all three formats. On Saturday, Kohli announced his decision via social media.

Virat has relinquished captaincy of all three formats in the last three months. After the T20 World Cup, Virat stepped down as captain of this format. At the same time, Kohli was relieved of the ODI captaincy ahead of the South Africa tour. Following this, there was a heated argument between Virat Kohli and Sourav Ganguly.

In fact, after being relieved of the ODI captaincy, Ganguly stated that the board had asked Virat not to relinquish the T20 captaincy. The BCCI president stated that he had discussed the matter with Virat. At the same time, the selectors asked Virat not to relinquish his captaincy.

Sourav Ganguly, President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has now responded to this matter.

He mentioned Kohli in a tweet. Ganguly wrote, "Under Virat Kohli's leadership, the Indian team performed brilliantly in all three formats of cricket." Virat's decision is his personal choice, which the BCCI respects. He has been and will continue to be an important member of this team. His contribution will be critical in propelling the team to new heights. Virat is a fantastic player. Virat, you're very talented".

Following this, Virat stated in a press conference that no one had asked him not to step down as T20 captain. He had not discussed the matter with anyone. Virat stated that when he resigned, his resignation was cheerfully accepted. Also mentioned was his removal from the ODI captaincy prior to selecting the team for the South African tour.

Following this, it was speculated that something was wrong between the board and Virat Kohli. However, following the conference, Ganguly refused to answer any questions. After losing the Test series to South Africa, Virat has shocked everyone by resigning as Test captain.
