Uttarakhand Char Dham Yatra: The Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee said on Sunday that since the commencement of the pilgrimage on May 3 this year, more than 19 lakh devotees have visited the Char Dham Yatra.

The temple committee said that the total number of pilgrims reaching Char Dham of Uttarakhand till the evening of June 11 is 19,04,253. From the evening of May 8 to June 11, 6,57,547 pilgrims reached Badrinath, while 6,33,548 from the evening of May 6 to June 11 reached Kedarnath.

Meanwhile, a total of 91 pilgrims have lost their lives in Uttarakhand during the Yatra till May 27.

Uttarakhand government announced to increase the number of pilgrims

Earlier on May 11, the Uttarakhand government had announced its decision to increase the number of pilgrims to Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath by one thousand each.

After the hike, 16,000 devotees can visit Badrinath Dham, 13,000 devotees to Kedarnath Dham, 8,000 devotees to Gangotri Dham and 5,000 devotees to Yamunotri Dham in a day.

Uttarakhand Char Dham Yatra: Doors of Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham were opened on May 3

The doors of Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham were opened on May 3 this year. while the doors of Kedarnath Dham were opened on 6 May and Badrinath Dham on 8 May.

A new record has also been shown in the registration for the Yatra this year. More than 10 lakh pilgrims have registered so far.

Uttarakhand Char Dham Yatra: 26 pilgrims were killed on June 5

On June 5, 26 people were killed and four others were injured when a bus carrying pilgrims from Madhya Pradesh's Panna district fell into a deep gorge on the way to Yamunotri temple in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand.
