UP Elections 2022: Sixth Phase of Nomination has Begun, Political Battle to Erupt in Purvanchal
Nominations for Purvanchal seats will begin on Friday in the sixth phase of Uttar Pradesh's assembly elections. The enrolment procedure for 57 seats in ten districts will begin on February 4 and will last until February 11 in this phase. Nominations will be scrutinized on February 14, with the deadline for withdrawing nominations set for February 16. The sixth phase of voting will take place on March 3.
11 of the 57 assembly seats are reserved for Scheduled Castes
Elections for 57 seats in ten districts are held in the sixth round of the UP elections. Ambedkar Nagar, Balrampur, Siddharthnagar, Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar, Maharajganj, Gorakhpur, Kushinagar, Deoria, and Ballia are the districts in question. In these districts, 11 of the 57 assembly seats are reserved for Scheduled Castes. In 2017, the BJP cleaned away the opposition in Purvanchal, and Yogi Adityanath is running for the same seat this year.

Yogi will put in a nomination
On Friday, the first day of the nomination process for the sixth phase, Yogi Adityanath will file his nomination from the Gorakhpur city assembly seat. Yogi will run in the assembly elections for the first time. This will also be the first time that the country's Home Minister, Amit Shah will be involved in any assembly election nomination. The political motivation for challenging Yogi's election and Shah obtaining Yogi's candidacy is also taken into account.

Many seats in Purvanchal could be affected by Yogi Adityanath's campaign from Gorakhpur. However, no major political party has declared a candidate to run against Yogi. Only Bhim Army Chief Chandrashekhar has declared that he will run against Yogi in the election. At the same time, OBC politician Swami Prasad Maurya, who defected from the BJP and joined the SP during this election cycle is putting his money in his mouth. He is running for the Kushinagar seat of Fazilnagar. Ajay Kumar Lallu, the Congress state president, will also be decided at this phase.
