Another Major Hitch to Jet Airways, Nasim Zaidi Resigned from Board

The problems of private sector airline Jet Airways who is struggling with the financial crisis is not halting. According to the information given by Jet Airways, Nasim Zaidi, a non-executive and non-independent director of the company has resigned from the board, citing personal reason and lack of time.

In the information given to the stock exchange, Jet Airways said, "Nasim Zaidi resigned from the post on 21 April. He has submitted resignation, citing personal reasons and lack of time. "Former Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi was associated with Jet Airways in August 2018. Nasim Zaidi has also been a former Secretary of the Civil Aviation Department. Earlier, on March 23, Naresh Goyal, promoter and founder of Jet Airways resigned from the board of the company.

Debt of over 8 thousand crores

Jet Airways, who is facing a financial crisis, has a debt of more than Rs 8,000 crore. Not only this, Jet Airways flight services have been temporarily suspended. Around 23 thousand employees are affected due to the Jet Airways crisis. These employees have not been able to get salaries for several months. However, SpiceJet has appointed more than 500 employees of Jet Airways. According to the information given by the company, it includes 100 pilots. The company said that it could appoint and recruit such employees.

Appeal to intervene with President and PM Modi

Meanwhile, Jet Airways employees have urged President Ramnath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene to pay their salaries and other dues and provide immediate help to the airline. The Society for Welfare of Indian Pilots (SWIP) and the Jet Aircraft Maintenance Engineers Welfare Association (JAMEWA) have requested two separate letters to help pay for their outstanding salaries.

In a letter, "We urge you to immediately take a quick look at this issue and instruct Jet Airways management to pay immediate payment of the outstanding salaries of the affected employees." According to the letter, 'we are urging you to accelerate the process of providing instant money to the airline, we want to say that every minute and every decision is crucial in this challenging time."
