Muskan Mathur

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the team for the ICC Women's World Cup 2022. The Indian team will play its first match in the World Cup against Pakistan on March 6. The match will be played at the Bay Oval in Tauranga. Just before the World Cup, Team India will play a five-match ODI series against New Zealand from February 11.

Left-arm spinners Ekta Bisht, Shikha Pandey and veteran Jemima Rodriguez have not been included in the World Cup squad. Fast bowler Renuka Singh Thakur has got a place in the team for the first time. Renuka has not made her ODI debut yet. Ekta has been kept in the World Cup team as a standby player.

Veteran Player Jemimah Rodrigues

No place for Veteran Player Jemimah Rodrigues

Jemima Rodrigues not getting a place in the team is most surprising. In the last year, he scored a lot of runs in the T20 leagues of England and Australia. Jemima scored 249 runs in the 100-ball tournament The Hundred in seven matches at an average of 41.50 and a strike rate of 150.90. She was second in the entire tournament in scoring runs. At the same time, in the Women's Big Bash League, she had 333 runs in 13 matches at an average of 27.75. But Jemima could not reach double digits in a single ODI match last year. Because of this, he was not selected for the World Cup and his recent form was overlooked. Jemima has so far scored 394 runs in 21 ODIs at an average of 19.70.
