On Saturday, militants attacked an army convoy in Turbat area of Pakistan's restive Balochistan province. One soldier was killed in the incident while three others were injured. The army's Public Relations Branch said militants opened fire on security forces during normal patrolling at Pidarak in Ketch district, about 35 km from Turbat. According to the statement, "Lance Naik Javed Karim was killed during the encounter while three other soldiers were injured." In recent weeks, attacks on troops in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province have increased.

Meanwhile, a UN report stated that around 6,000-6,500 terrorists from Pakistan are active in neighboring Afghanistan. Most of these terrorists have links with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. The 26th report of the Analytical Assistance and Sanctions Monitoring Team of the United Nations ISIS, al-Qaeda and allied individuals and institutions said that al-Qaeda (AQIS) operates from Afghanistan's Nimruz, Helmand and Kandahar provinces under the Taliban. It states that the organization has between 150 and 200 members from Bangladesh, India, Myanmar and Pakistan. The current mastermind of AQIS is Osama Mahmud, who replaced the slain Asim Omar.

According to the report, there are reports that AQIS is plotting to retaliate in the area to avenge the death of its former gangster. The largest terrorist organization in Afghanistan, the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), has claimed responsibility for several high-profile attacks in Pakistan. Apart from this, this terrorist organization has also helped in other attacks by Jamaat-ul-Ahrar and Lashkar-e-Islam.
