West Bengal BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari on Tuesday, August 2, urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to implement the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) at the earliest.

On this, Shah assured them that rules regarding this would be framed after the exercise of giving precautionary doses of the anti-Covid-19 vaccine is completed.

Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Assembly Suvendu Adhikari told reporters after meeting Shah that he also submitted a list of around 100 Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders who were allegedly involved in the recruitment scam, in which former state minister Partha Chatterjee has been arrested.

Seeking a comprehensive probe to expose all those involved in the teacher recruitment scam, the official also gave the Union Home Minister letterheads of some TMC leaders, including MLAs, who were allegedly used to recommend some names for jobs by taking bribes.

Suvendu Adhikari's tweet after meeting the Home Minister

Suvendu Adhikari tweeted after meeting Shah, “It is an honour to meet Home Minister Amit Shah for 45 minutes at his office in Parliament in Delhi.

I told them how the government of West Bengal was completely immersed in corrupt activities like the teacher recruitment scam. He also requested them to implement the CAA at the earliest.

The CAA was passed on December 11, 2019 by the Parliament and was notified on December 12 within 24 hours. However, its implementation is stuck as the rules are yet to be framed.

'Teacher recruitment scam is not possible without Mamata's hint'

The amended Citizenship Act (CAA) seeks to provide citizenship to persecuted minorities from neighboring countries-Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan, who migrated to India by December 31, 2014.

At the same time, BJP's West Bengal unit president Sukanta Majumdar, while talking to reporters, targeted TMC leader and state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, alleging that the teacher recruitment scam could not have happened without her signal.

The official said the scam ruined the careers of 80-90 lakh people who aspired to become teachers.
