Road Rage Case: In the road rage case, a new twist has come in the case of Navjot Singh Sidhu surrendering in Patiala. Navjot Singh Sidhu had sought more time from the Supreme Court to surrender in the road rage case, but the Chief Justice has refused to hear Sidhu's plea for relief from surrender.

Former Punjab Congress President Sidhu was seeking relief citing ill health. Cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu was sentenced to one-year rigorous imprisonment by the Supreme Court on Thursday in a 34-year-old Road rage case.

Road Rage Case: I will respect the law- Sidhu

After getting one-year rigorous sentence from the Supreme Court, Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu tweeted that he will respect the law. At the same time, Patiala District Congress Urban President Narendra Pal Lali has also issued a message saying that Sidhu will surrender himself by appearing in the district court today.

Let us tell you that about 34 years ago, 65-year-old Gurnam Singh was killed in a scuffle with Sidhu and Sidhu's friend on the road.

In this case, the Punjab and Haryana High Court had convicted Sidhu and sentenced him to three years in jail, but the Supreme Court on May 15, 2018, calling it an incident more than 30 years old, released him on a fine of 1000 rupees.

Victim's family appealed again in SC

It is worth mentioning that Navjot Singh Sidhu had earlier got relief in this case. But the family members of the person who died during the road rage had filed a review petition. Now hearing him, the Supreme Court has sentenced Sidhu to one-year rigorous imprisonment.
