Papalpreet Singh, Linked to Amritpal Singh, Sent to Assam's High-Security Dibrugarh Jail

Papalpreet Sent To Dibrugarh Jail: On Monday i.e. April 10, Papalpreet Singh, who is said to be a close associate of Amritpal Singh, was arrested from Amritsar district under the National Security Act (Rasuka).

Following his arrest in Amritsar, Papalpreet Singh was taken to the high-security Dibrugarh Jail in Assam. It should be noted that under the NSA (Rasuka) law, the accused can be detained for up to one year without trial.

Papalpreet and Amritpal had managed to evade the police's trap last month.

According to Punjab Police Inspector General (Headquarters) Sukhchain Singh Gill, Papalpreet Singh, who is believed to be a significant associate of Amritpal Singh, was arrested on Monday from the Kathu Nangal area of Amritsar.

Gill has stated that Papalpreet has been detained under the National Security Act (Rasuka), and six other cases have been registered against him.

At the same time, the Nepal Police stated on Monday that they are on high alert regarding the potential entry of Amritpal Singh into the country, days after the wanted extremist preacher was placed on the nation's watch list.

Poshraj Pokharaj Pokharel, a spokesperson for the Nepal Police, mentioned that they have not yet received any information about Amritpal's entry into Nepal but they are vigilant in this regard.

It is said that India has requested Nepal to stay on alert about Amritpal's possible entry, but as of now, Nepal Police has not confirmed the presence of Amritpal in Nepal.

How Amritpal Singh Made Headlines?

Amritpal Singh gained attention when he and his followers, armed with swords, knives, and guns, stormed the Ajnala police station in Amritsar on February 24 this year.

The incident occurred after one of Amritpal Singh's assistants was apprehended for alleged assault and attempted abduction.
