National Herald Case: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has been questioned for a total of 40 hours so far in the National Herald case and he has to appear before the ED one more time on Tuesday at 11 am.

On Monday, Rahul Gandhi did a question-and-answer session for a total of eight hours. Amidst all this, a Congress delegation met the President and complained about the misbehaviour of the Delhi Police with the Congress leaders.

On Monday, Rahul Gandhi entered the ED office at around 11.05 am and was questioned for about four-and-a-half hours in the first round.

He again reached the ED office around four o'clock and another round of questioning took place.

National Herald Case: Big updates so far

• The ED's money laundering probe concerns suspected financial irregularities at Young Indian Pvt Ltd, a Congress-backed company that owns the National Herald newspaper.

• The probe agency registered a fresh case under criminal provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) after a trial court in Delhi took cognizance of the Income Tax Department's investigation into Young Indian based on a criminal complaint filed by BJP MP Subramanian Swamy . in 2013.

• Rahul Gandhi is being questioned about his official position at Young India, which acquired Associated Journals Ltd (AJL), the company that runs the National Herald. He has also been questioned about his family's share in AJL. Sonia Gandhi, his mother, has also been summoned for questioning, but has been granted temporary reprieve due to her ailing health.

National Herald Case: Congress leaders met President Ram Nath Kovind on Monday

While Rahul Gandhi presented himself at the ED office in the money laundering case, Congress MPs, senior leaders and thousands of workers staged protests across the country.

The agitation turned violent in some places as party workers clashed with police and paramilitary forces. Last week, hundreds of supporters of Congress, including key leaders, were arrested for protesting without permission and breaking prohibitory orders.

On Monday, a group of top Congress leaders met with President Ram Nath Kovind.. In protest against the interrogation, he urged the police to take action with information about the alleged misbehaviour with the party MPs.
