Deepak Sharma

As a positive outcome of 16 days of intense diplomacy at the top level, India on Wednesday brought the US and Russia to a ground on the complex issue of Afghanistan. US intelligence agency CIA chief William Burns and Russian Security Council chief Nikolai Patrushev have a new Indian to meet the challenge of securing their commitment to crack down on the Taliban, counter-terrorism, and restore the rule of law in Kabul. However, the effort has brought it together in Delhi. This has caused panic in China and Pakistan, as both remain allies of the Taliban.

CIA chief's visit was kept secret

It is being seen as India's masterstroke in international diplomacy. However, the CIA chief's visit to India was kept a secret. There were no official sources ready to confirm or deny his visit, but his presence was not obscured by the sounds of security sirens and movements of National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval in the Ministry of External Affairs and the Prime Minister's Office in South Block.

Russian Foreign Ministry sources say Patrushev's visit to India is "a follow-up" to a telephone conversation between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin on August 24. Also, Patrushev met with Prime Minister and NSA Ajit Doval on Wednesday. The Ministry of External Affairs said that the roadmap for the high-profile CIA team's visit to India was prepared. This roadmap was prepared by talks between Jaishankar and US Secretary of State Blinken.

What is America's agenda?

According to sources, due to the withdrawal of the forces, America wants to come out clean from the situation which has arisen. The Americans hold on to many groups of Taliban and Russia wants to take advantage of that. America wants India to continue to play the role of a 'consultation bridge' for connectivity with Russia. However, in Afghanistan, India has gathered widespread sympathy among the general public and it should be used as ground intelligence. Also, the Afghan leadership has to be preserved for the future state structure in Afghanistan. America wants Indian government to give political asylum to many rising leaders.
