Amid Opposition Boycott, Omar Abdullah Appreciates Grandeur of New Parliament House

New Parliament Building Inauguration: Omar Abdullah, a prominent leader of the National Conference, expressed his appreciation on Friday i.e. May 26 for the new Parliament building, describing it as both welcoming and grand.

Notably, his remarks come amidst a backdrop of several opposition parties, including his own, announcing their boycott of the inauguration ceremony for the new Parliament House.

Abdullah recalled his time as a Lok Sabha member, revealing that discussions among his colleagues frequently centred around the necessity of a new and improved Parliament House.

In a recent tweet, the National Conference leader emphasized the significance of the new Parliament building, setting aside the controversies surrounding its inauguration.

He expressed a warm welcome to the new structure, acknowledging the remarkable contribution of the old Parliament House.

Drawing from his personal experience as a former member, he shared that discussions among colleagues often revolved around the necessity for a new and improved Parliament House.

Despite being among the signatories of the joint letter issued by nineteen opposition parties, including the Congress, the Left, the Trinamool Congress, the Samajwadi Party, and the Aam Aadmi Party, announcing their boycott of the new Parliament building's inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the National Conference leader expressed a sentiment of "better late than never."

In his statement, he also praised the grand appearance of the new Parliament House.

At the epicentre of New Delhi, the upcoming new Parliament building is poised to take the reins from the iconic circular structure that has long served as a centrepiece of India's democratic legacy.
