The mercy plea of ​​convict Vinay Sharma, sentenced to death by the Supreme Court in the Nirbhaya case in 2012, has taken a new turn. According to the news agency ANI, Vinay Sharma, convicted for the 2012 Nirbhaya gang rape, has claimed that the letter does not have his signature in the letter to President K Ramnath Kovind, so he dismissed the mercy petition with immediate effect.

According to the information received, the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (Aam) government in Delhi has sent its report to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs regarding the mercy petition of convict Vinay Sharma. It is being told that the mercy petition of Vinay Sharma, convicted of Home Ministry Nirbhaya under the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, has been submitted to the President. The Home Ministry has recommended the dismissal of Vinay's petition.

Article 72 of the constitution provides for the President to reduce the punishment of any convicted criminal and also waive his sentence completely.

Delhi's Lt. Governor Anil Baijal has rejected the plea of ​​Vinay Sharma, convicted in the Nirbhaya gang rape case in Vasant Vihar area of ​​Delhi. Actually, the file related to Vinay's mercy petition was sent by the Delhi government to the Lieutenant Governor's office. Simultaneously, the Delhi government gave a report on its behalf to dismiss the mercy petition. At the beginning of the week i.e. on Monday, the Lt. Governor also got permission to dismiss the mercy petition. Now this file has been sent to the President from Delhi Government. The President has to take a final decision on this.
