Three Candidates Filled Five Nomination Papers on the First Day: Delhi Election

The nomination process  have started after the notification for Delhi Assembly Election-2020 has been issued on Tuesday. On the first day, three candidates from Matiala, New Delhi and Burari assembly constituencies filed five nomination papers.

The same candidate from New Delhi seat Venkateswara Maha Swamy (aka Deepak) filed three separate nomination papers in the names of the three parties. Interestingly, they have filed papers in the name of BJP, NCP (Nationalist Congress Party) and Hindustanjanata Party. While no party has announced candidates yet. However, he has not submitted any letter of BJP and NCP with the affidavit. Whereas, candidates contesting from any party have to submit a letter issued by the party concerned. Azad Nafe Singh Rajput from Burari assembly constituency has filed an independent form. Apart from this, Mohindur Singh from Matiala has filed nomination from National Nationalist Party

The nomination was reduced the day before the names of the candidates of the major parties were not announced. After the names of BJP and Congress candidates are announced, there will be a rush in the office of the Returning Officers. According to the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), nomination will be held in the office of the Returning Officer of all 70 assembly constituencies from 11 am to 3 pm.
