SACRED YELLOW FLAG WRAPED WITH GARLAND GOES UP IN PADMAVATHI AMMAVARI TEMPLE

The annual Karthika Brahmotsavam at the Padmavathi Temple in Tiruchanur here got off with the traditional start, as the sacred yellow flag, wrapped with garlands, went up the flag post and the chanting of hymns during the 'Dhwajarohan'.

Unlike the sacred flag of Tirumala bearing an image of Garuda, the one hosted here carries an imprint of elephant, favorite celestial carrier of Godess Padmavathi.

After a ceremonial procession around the temple, the flag was hosted by the priest at 8:30 am, during the auspicious 'Vrischika Lagnam', under the supervision of Pancha Ratra Agama advisor K. Srinivassacharylu. Gaja Dhyana sloka, Gaja Mangalashtakam and Garuda Gadyam, mentioned in 'Kashyapa Samhita,' were recited.

The special feature of the ritual is the use of melodious tunes to extend invites to all the celestial beings to witness the grand festival.

TTD announced that all facilities such as food, drinking water, and loo were in the place to ensure hassle free darshan. the TTD has developed 340 volunteers including 280 women citizen at various places to guide the pilgrims.

Mr. Bhaskar urged the volunteer to be patient with devotees during the rush hours.
