Lockdown should Extend for 2 Weeks after May 17, Assam Government Wrote a Letter to the Center

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said on Friday that 'we have sent our suggestions in writing to the central government to continue the lockdown. The state has written a letter to the Center requesting to extend the lockdown for two more weeks from May 17 onwards. Addressing the press conference, Sonowal said that all states had to give their response by Friday to extend the lockdown period and the Assam government has already conveyed its stand to the Center.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has said that we have sent our written recommendation that we want this lockdown to continue. This is simply a suggestion to the Government of India, it is a step, but several steps have to be considered. Sonowal said that in the fourth phase of thelockdown, he has also given his views on the concessions he wants for the state. He said, 'Let the Government of India consider it. I don't want to say too much about it right now. All states have written to the Center which will take a decision on extending the lockdown period. Let us tell you, the third phase of the nationwide lockdown implemented due to Corona virus ends on 17 May.
