The Congress government in Chhattisgarh has taken a big step against the Central Bureau of Investigation after Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal.

The state government has withdrawn the general consent according to the CBI to probe cases in the state.

All the three states are ruled by opposition parties and have accused the CBI of working as per the central government where Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) is in power.

However, CBI comes under the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act. The central agency requires states to give the agency a general consent to take an action against the central government employees.

Chhattisgarh Chief minister Bhupesh Baghel wrote a letter to the Union Ministry about this matter. As per the reports of ANI, 'Chhattisgarh govt requests central govt that 'the CBI be instructed not to exercise jurisdiction for investigation of any fresh matter' in the state. The Home Department of the state govt has withdrawn its consent given to the centre, in 2001.'

State CM also said, 'first of all in the last few months, the Union government has put the role of CBI under question and hence it will not be correct for us to allow CBI to continue arbitrariness in our state. Secondly, CBI is misusing the federal structure and affecting the law and order in the state.'

He also added that by this order, CBI's movement in the state will not be prohibited but the agency will have to take permission before any operations or raids in Chhattisgarh
