The Supreme Court on Thursday allowed his daughter to visit Srinagar to meet former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti. Also, CPM leader Yusuf Tarigami has also been allowed to go to Delhi for treatment. Her daughter had filed a petition in the Supreme Court to meet the detained Mehbooba Mufti since Article 370 was removed from Jammu and Kashmir.

Mehbooba Mufti's daughter Iltija, expressing concern over the mother's health, said in the petition that she wanted to meet her mother in custody and directed the authorities to allow it.Iltija says that she has not been able to meet him for the last one month. The petition was heard by a bench of Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Justice SA Bobde and Justice SA Nazir.

In an interview with Rajdeep Sardesai on August 28, Sana Iltija said that the government had kept her from meeting her mother. She claimed that Mehbooba Mufti was being kept in solitary confinement as the government was trying to crush her spirit.

In an emotional interview, Sana requested the government to restore communication in the Kashmir valley so that people could have access to emergency services, averting gut-wrenching stories coming out of the region.

Earlier, Sana had written a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah over the restrictions on the people in Kashmir Valley. In the letter, she said that while the country was celebrating Independence Day, Kashmiri people were being "caged like animals" and "deprived of basic human rights". Sana also said that visitors were not allowed to meet her and called it "odd" since she was not affiliated to any political party.
