The Indian football team has not won a single match in the FIFA World Cup qualifier matches so far. The team is currently out of the top 100 teams in the FIFA rankings. The current ranking of the Indian team is 108. Whatever the Indian's recent performance may be, but former captain Baichung Bhutia wants the coach of the team to be given more opportunities. Bhutia believes that the coach Igor Stimac has just started building the team and working on its game so it will be early to take a decision.

As the head coach, Igor Stimac has managed to win the Indian football team in only one of the nine matches. The figures are disappointing but Baichung Bhutia, former captain of the Indian team, believes that this is not the time to panic as Stimac should get more time for better results. Under Stimac's guidance, the Indian team has scored nine goals in nine matches. Bhutia said that under the guidance of Stimac, the level of playing of the Indian team is improving and this team will prove to be difficult for other teams in the coming times, so it would not be appropriate to focus on the figures.

He said, I am not the one to judge his performance as a coach. I am hoping that the team starts doing well. This team is playing as a unit. Some matches have been unfortunate for us, but despite that, I am not seeing anything worrying. The Indian team has played 5 matches in the qualifiers so far. Out of this, India has drawn 3 matches and lost two matches. India has lost in both matches played against Oman so far. India has drawn draws against Qatar, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.
