Anti-National Sharjeel Arrested in Bihar

Sharjeel Imam, a student of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), is in discussion about his anti-national statement. In one of his speeches, he had talked of cutting off the entire North-East India including Assam from the rest of India.

After his video became viral, FIRs have been lodged against Sharjil in several states, including Treason and several serious charges including promoting dishonesty on the basis of religion. He has been arrested from Jehanabad, Bihar on Tuesday. Earlier, the police questioned his brother and a friend in custody.

Sharjeel is a native of Jehanabad, Bihar. His father Akbar Imam was the leader of the ruling Janata Dal United (JDU). Akbar Imam also contested assembly elections from Jehanabad on JDU ticket. Sharjeel's uncle deals with the matter through politics. According to him, his nephew has been implicated unnecessarily to take advantage in the Delhi Assembly elections. Sharjeel's mother also considers the son innocent.
