8-Members Indian Men’s Boxing Squad Make the Cut for 2020 Asian Olympic Qualifier

Star boxers Vikas Krishnan (69 kg), Gaurav Solanki (57 kg) and Naman Tanwar (91 kg) won their respective final trials on Monday to make it to the Indian team for next year's Olympic qualifiers. With this, an eight-man boxing team was decided for the Asia Oceania regional qualifiers to be held from February 3 to 14 in Wuhan, China.

The women's team has already been selected. Vikas, a former World Championship and Asian Games medalist, continued to play in the 75kg for a long time but returned to the 69kg after recovering from a back injury. The 26-year-old Vikas, who had competed in the Olympics twice before, defeated Duryodhan Singh Negi in a unanimous decision in the final.

Commonwealth Games medalist Solanki defeated Mohammad Hasmuddin and Tanwar defeated Naveen Kumar. Amit Panghal and Manish Kaushik won medals at the World Championships in September, while Ashish, Satish and Sachin won the trials on Sunday.
