Odisha's Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said that the Men's Hockey World Cup 2023 will take place in Bhubaneswar and Roulkela, Odisha. On the 8th of this month, the International Hockey Federation (FIH) has selected India to host 2023. This is the second consecutive time the country will host a World Cup. According to FIH, the Men's Hockey World Cup will be played in India from January 13 to 29. Patnaik gave this information in a brief ceremony at Kalinga Stadium.

The ceremony was attended by FIH and Indian Olympic Association President Narinder Batra, Hockey India President Mohammad Mushtaq Ahmed, Odisha's Sports Minister Tushakanti Behera and other dignitaries.
