Khelo India University Games will Help in Bringing New Sports Talent: Rani Rampal

Indian women's hockey team captain Rani Rampal is very happy about the efforts being made by the government to bring out new sports talent. Rani believes that the next Khelo India University Games will help in bringing new sports talent across the country and this is a very good effort. Let us tell you that Rani was honored with the Padma Shri Award (country's fourth highest civilian honor) a few days ago. She praised the government's initiative and said that the country would get benefit greatly from it in the future. Rani said, 'I believe that Khelo India University of Sports is a great initiative of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The government first started Khelo India Youth Games and now Khelo India University Games, if you look at the global scenario, these are fantastic.'

She said that most of the players in other countries play at international level after playing at the university level in some form and now after the similar strategy is implemented in India, we will get more talented players at the university level, similarly like, We are getting talented young players from the Khelo India Youth Games.

In Bhubaneswar, eight teams will compete in the men's and women's section for the first Khelo India University Games to be held from 22 February to 1 March. Rani, who is doing MA in English from Punjab University, said that she is supporting her university team.
