On the passing of a resolution seeking withdrawal of the Citizenship Amendment Act, Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan said that the proposal has no legal or constitutional validity, as citizenship is particularly a central subject. So in reality this proposal has no meaning. Earlier, the Ministry of Home Affairs has made it clear that no state can refuse to implement this law. States will have to implement the Citizenship Amendment Act in any case.

The governor said, "It is very shocking that the government which has sworn in the constitution is talking non-constitutionally." The state government is saying that citizenship amendment laws will not be allowed to be implemented in the state. Such people should remember that this law is passed by the Parliament. Giving or taking citizenship is a subject of the Seventh Schedule to the Constitution and Parliament is only empowered to make laws on it. Parliament can legislate on any subject related to citizenship. '

The Kerala Legislative Assembly has passed a resolution demanding the withdrawal of the Citizenship Amendment Act. The CPI (M) -led ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the Congress-led opposition United Democratic Front (UDF) supported the proposal against the CAA in the Kerala Assembly. Protest over the citizenship amendment law is needless. A lot of confusion is being spread on social media about this law. This law will not take away citizenship of any person of any religion in India. This law only facilitates Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Parsis, Jains and Christians of Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan living in Pakistan to gain citizenship of India. Citizenship of Muslims of India or people of any religion and community is not threatened by this law.
