Lok Sabha Speaker Convenes Meeting of All Parties Before Winter Session

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has called a meeting of all parties before the winter session on Saturday. This meeting has been convened to run the Parliament smoothly.

The winter session of Parliament will begin on Monday. In this session, the emphasis of the government will be on passing many important bills including citizenship. At the same time, the opposition may pressurize the formation of JPC to investigate the Rafale deal and to discuss the current political situation in Maharashtra. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi has called an all-party meeting on Sunday. The winter session will run until December 13.

According to sources, the Modi government has put the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill on the agenda for the session. The Modi government introduced the bill in Parliament in the first term, but it was not passed due to opposition from the opposition.
