The Delhi government has agreed to pay the arrears of contracted employees of CAT ambulances. Health Minister Satyendra Jain has directed to release the arrears of wages in seven days. The Cats Ambulance contracted workers withdrew the strike on Friday after being assured. Labor Minister Gopal Rai ended the strike by feeding him kheer. In such a situation, ambulance service is expected to be normal soon.

Employees were on strike since July 1 to demand the cancellation of the ambulance and payment of arrears. The government had given the responsibility of operation and maintenance of CAT's ambulances to private hands since July 2016. The company named BVG-UKSAS EMS was given the operational responsibility. It hired around 1100 employees on contract. Along with this, there were about 430 contract workers employed by CATS Ambulance Service, whose salary was paid by CATS, but their contract was not renewed.

On September 11, Satyendra Jain and Gopal Rai held a meeting with the representatives and officials of the striking employees, in which it was revealed that the salaries of the employees for two months and 10 days were outstanding. It was decided in this meeting that the Health Department is the principal employer of the employees. Therefore, the Health Minister has directed to release the arrears of wages in seven days.

Cats Ambulance Service employees union official Narendra Lakra said that the government has also ordered that the status of contracted employees in the department before July 1 would remain intact. That is, the contract employees appointed by CATs will be the employees of the department. In addition, 1100 employees appointed by the old company will also be appointed. They will return to duty as soon as they are appointed.
