Before the Supreme Court's decision on the Ayodhya case, the UP Police has been put on high alert to ensure proper law and order across the state. The UP Police has taken special steps to closely monitor messages on social media, maintaining regular contact with clerics and priests of various mosques / temples.

Police are also keeping an eye on public places, posters on the walls, slogans to be written. Apart from this, a list of responsible people of both communities is also being prepared at the ground level. The state government has told senior police officials that police personnel should be discharged only until November 30, if not necessary, otherwise.

Peace Committee Meetings-

Peace committee meetings are being held regularly at police stations. These committees have influential people from both communities. ' Sources say that the most important task with the police is to keep a constant watch on different social media messages. Another source of UP police said, 'We have formed a group of digital volunteers in almost every police station. These volunteers, who are from different sections of the society, are present in various WhatsApp groups in their respective fields. These volunteers inform the officers of their police stations about such messages which can spoil the law and order situation.

Police is also patrolling in the early morning. Another source said, 'This is being done to prevent the possibility of disturbing the peace by anti-social elements raising objectionable posters / slogans'.
