Veteran Bollywood actor Chandrashekhar passed away today (Wednesday). He was 97 years old. He was also known for playing the role of Arya Sumant in the television series 'Ramayana'. CINTAA's Anil Gaikwad has confirmed Chandrashekhar's death. He told that he passed away at 7 am today. His last rites will be performed today.
Chandrashekhar's son Ashok said, "Papa passed away in his sleep. He did not have any problem with his health. He was in the hospital for a day last Thursday. We brought him back home and also with all facilities including oxygen. Came here, so that there should be no trouble if needed. He was fine last night also. He had a peaceful ending. We are planning to perform his last rites today at 4 pm at Pawan Hans, Vile Parle." Chandrashekhar was the grandfather of TV actor Shakti Arora. In 2019, Shakti shared a photo with him. With this, he wrote in the caption, "The best smile of my grandfather."
CINTAA joint secretary Amit Behl said, "It is a big loss. It is Chandrashekhar sir, Asha Parekh, Mithun Da, Amrish Puri, Amjad Khan, and Ram Mohan who took the space from the government for our new office building, which is now We were very much looking forward to his presence at the inauguration, but fate had other plans." Chandrashekhar also served as the President of the Cine Artists Association (CINTAA) from 1985 to 1996.
Senior actor Chandrashekhar had acted in about 250 films in his career. His first film as a hero was 'Surang', which was released in 1953. He worked as a supporting actor in films like 'Gateway of India', 'Fashion' (1957), 'Barsaat Ki Raat' (1960) and many others and he became quite popular as well. He played the lead role in his hit musical film 'Cha Cha Cha' (1964). And He himself directed and produced this film. Helen also played the lead role in this film of hers. This was also Helen's debut film.
